COMMUNICATION
Communication: Communication has been in existence with man’s creation on Earth.
Man is seen to be a social Animal but cannot communicate in other to socialize. Every society, therefore, finds Communication as a hub and a lubricant for mutual existence of its member and sustenance of its activities as an entity.
It is thus convincing enough to asset that without communication, there cannot be society and without society, there cannot be a man.
“Suffice say that GOD IS A COMMUNICATION”
Even the Bible said “LET THERE BE LIGHT “
“God is the Greatest Communicator,”
Different scholar also came up with avalanche of definition of commutation :
Gerbner (1957) As social interaction through messages
Theordoson and Theordoson (1969) As Transmission of information, idea, attitude or emotion from one person or a group to another, primarily through symbols.
Monternal and Willson (1999) As social interaction by means of messages punch above Human and Technology.
Suffice to say that communication is a process through which idea mores values, culture are transmitted from one person to the other or from one generation to another.
INSTRUCTIONAL COMMUNICATION
According to Oxford bibliographic, Instructional communication is a discipline that centered on the role that communication plays in ” “Teaching- Learning process”
It is also the study of how communication relate to learning within any environment, this includes Traditional and Non Traditional.
TYPES OF COMMUNICATION
1. Verbal Communication: It can ve defined as the one involving the the use of words. Therefore some scholars describe it as Communication process
2. Non-verbal communication: This can be define as a form of communication through which body language, signs, Body contact , heed nods, smiles, frown , part on the back etc
3. Written Communication: This is the type of communication which the information to be transfered is in written form.Examples are, Letter to the Editor of National News paper, Application Letter, Employment letter,Love letter .
4. Intra-personal communication: This is a form of communication transecting that takes place within an individual, it is describe as talking to one self form of communication. OKUNNA(1994) “posits that it is a communication that goes on within or inside an individual.This type of communication involves the exchange of message between the brain and sense organ of the body.
5. Inter- personal: This is a form of communication between two or more people in a physical proximity in which the five senses are effectively and actively used an immediate feedback is present.
6.Political Communication: As the name implies, this can be define as a form Of communication which has actual or potential effect on the functioning of a political system. It could aptly be described as application strategy in achieving political goals.
GRAPEVINE , RUMOURS AND GOSSIP
Grapevine is a form of information communication who’s influence in the day-to-day running of any organization cannot be ignored totaly of an official communication system many of the scoops published by News papers were derived through grapvine sources.
Rumors: This is a wide speed report from an unknown sources, net work through which romours travel could be discribed as fugitive scholar are of the opinion that rumours will passist in any organization as long as circumstances given right to it prevail.
Gossips: Just as we discribe the rumour, Gossips are inverified stories , gossip is also a form of communication that is transacted without verification, confirmation and authentication which is aimed ar causing disintegration in an organization failure to dish out information as and when due could lead to gossip in an organization.
